How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will start you on a low dose, which will be gradually increased. The typical maintenance dose is up to 10 mg once daily.

Method

Take the tablet with water in the morning, with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg bisoprolol.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fatigue, weakness, dizziness, headache
  • Cold or numb hands and feet
  • Low blood pressure
  • Stomach problems like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Slowed heart rate
RARE
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Depression
  • Breathing difficulties in patients with asthma or chronic lung disease
  • Muscle weakness, muscle cramps
  • Worsening heart failure
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat
  • Hearing problems
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Reduced tear flow and dry eyes
  • Liver inflammation (can cause yellowing of skin or eyes)
  • Abnormal liver function or blood fat test results
  • Allergic reactions such as itching, redness, rash
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Nightmares, hallucinations
  • Fainting
  • Eye irritation and redness (conjunctivitis)
  • Hair loss
  • Psoriasis or psoriasis-like rash appearing or worsening

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to bisoprolol fumarate or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take if you have severe asthma or severe chronic lung disease.
  • Do not take if you have severe circulation problems in your limbs (e.g., Raynaud's syndrome).
  • Do not take if you have worsening heart failure that needs hospital treatment, a very slow or irregular heartbeat, or very low blood pressure.
  • Never stop taking Bisoproact without your doctor's advice, as this could make your condition much worse.

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Bisoproact may harm the baby, and breastfeeding is not recommended.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines, especially when starting treatment, increasing the dose, or consuming alcohol.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Bisoproact if you have diabetes, kidney or liver problems, certain heart conditions, or thyroid problems.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
