How to Use

Dosage

One drop in each affected eye once daily in the evening.

Method

Administered directly into the eye.

Important

Do not use more than once a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Mild redness of the eye
  • Fat loss around the eye, which may cause sunken eyes, drooping eyelids, tightened skin around the eye, or make the white part of the eye more visible
  • Small breaks on the surface of the eye, possibly with inflammation
  • Eye irritation
  • Itchy eyes
  • Pain
  • Dry eyes
  • Gritty feeling in the eye
  • Longer eyelashes
  • Darkening of skin around the eye
  • Red eyelids
RARE
  • Tired eyes
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Darkening of iris color
  • Itchy and swollen eyelids
  • Watery eyes
  • Swelling of the transparent layer covering the eye (conjunctiva)
  • Blurred vision
  • Headache
  • Hair growth around the eye
  • Sticky eyes
  • Uncomfortable feeling in the eye
  • Asthma or worsening of asthma
  • Worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Symptoms of allergic reaction (swelling, redness in the eye and skin rash)

  • Skin discoloration around the eye
  • Burning sensation in the eye
  • Allergic reaction in the eye
  • Eyelid inflammation
  • Difficulty seeing clearly
  • Worsening vision
  • Darker eyelashes
  • Bleeding in the retina

  • Cystoid macular edema (swelling in the retina that leads to vision impairment)
  • Iris inflammation
  • Eyelid twitching
  • Eyelid retraction (eyelid pulls away from the eye surface)
  • Nausea
  • Redness of skin around the eye

  • Elevated liver enzyme values
  • Cloudy spots on the cornea due to calcium accumulation (very rare, if severe corneal damage exists)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bimatoprost or any other ingredient.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have breathing problems, liver or kidney issues, have had cataract surgery, have low blood pressure or slow heart rate, or have an eye infection/inflammation.
  • This medicine may cause your eyelashes to grow longer and darker, darken the skin around your eye, and permanently change your iris color.
  • Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Discuss with your doctor.
  • Your vision may be temporarily blurry. Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear.

  • Remove contact lenses before use and wait 15 minutes before reinserting them.
  • If you are using other eye medicines, wait at least 5 minutes between applications.
  • This medicine contains phosphates, which in rare cases can cause cloudy spots on the cornea if the transparent layer of your eye is severely damaged.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Start and continue therapy under supervision by an ophthalmologist. May cause changes in iris pigmentation and excessive growth of eyelashes. (updated 4.12.2023)
