How to Use

Dosage

One drop in each affected eye once daily in the evening.

Method

Wash your hands. Tilt your head back and look up. Gently pull down your lower eyelid to form a pocket. Invert the bottle and squeeze one drop into each affected eye. Close your eye for 30 seconds. Do not touch the tip of the bottle to your eye. Close the bottle immediately after use.

Important

Do not use more than once a day, as this may make the medicine less effective.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Longer eyelashes
  • Mild redness of the eye
  • Itching
  • Loss of fat around the eye, which may cause sunken eyes, droopy eyelids, or the white part of the eye to be more visible.
  • Allergic reaction in the eye
  • Tired eyes
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Darkening of the skin around the eye
  • Darkening of eyelashes
  • Pain
  • Feeling of something in the eye
  • Sticky eyes
  • Darkening of iris color
  • Blurred or worsened vision
  • Eye irritation
  • Burning sensation in eyes
  • Inflamed, red, and itchy eyelids
  • Increased tear production
  • Dry eyes
  • Swelling of the cornea (front of the eye)
  • Small changes or sores on the eye surface, possibly with inflammation
  • Headache
  • Increased liver function test results
  • High blood pressure
  • Dim vision
RARE
  • Swelling in the retina (macular edema) which can lead to vision loss
  • Eye inflammation
  • Bleeding in the retina
  • Swollen eyelids
  • Eyelid twitching
  • Eyelid turning away from the eye surface
  • Redness of skin around the eye
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Weakness
  • Hair growth around the eyes
  • Eye discomfort
  • Symptoms of allergic reaction (swelling, eye redness, skin rash)
  • Asthma
  • Worsening of asthma
  • Worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Skin discoloration (around the eye)
  • Cloudy spots on the cornea due to calcium buildup

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bimatoprost or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have breathing problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had cataract surgery.
  • Tell your doctor if you have dry eyes.

  • If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had low blood pressure or a slow heart rate.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had an eye infection or inflammation.
  • Your vision might become blurry for a short time after using the drops. Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear again.
  • This medicine can make your eyelashes longer and darker, darken the skin around your eyelid, and change your iris color to a darker shade. These changes might be permanent.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Start and continue therapy under supervision by an ophthalmologist. May cause changes in iris pigmentation and excessive growth of eyelashes. (updated 4.12.2023)
