How to Use

Dosage

1 drop into the affected eye twice a day.

Method

Wash your hands, tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid to form a pocket, and drop one drop into the pocket. Do not touch your eye with the dropper. Press the inner corner of your eye for 2 minutes after applying.

Important

Do not use more than 1 drop per eye, twice a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Eye discomfort

  • Eye irritation (such as burning, stinging, itching, redness)
  • Eye inflammation or infection (e.g., surface, conjunctiva, eyelid)
  • Eye pain or swelling
  • Dry eyes
  • Crusty eyelids or eyelid twitching
  • Reduced vision or sensitivity to light
  • Cloudy lens in the eye
  • Changes in heart rate or rhythm (fast, slow, irregular)
  • Shortness of breath, asthma, cough or wheezing
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, dry mouth, changes in taste
  • Nasal inflammation or runny nose
  • Dizziness or fainting
  • Skin reactions (e.g., rash, itching, hives, hair loss, swelling of face/limbs)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Mood changes (e.g., anxiety, depression, nightmares) or sleep problems (insomnia)
  • Decreased sex drive
  • General weakness, fatigue or muscle pain
  • Tingling or numbness in skin

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Betoptic if you are allergic to betaxolol, beta-blockers, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing problems, asthma, or a serious lung condition.
  • Do not use if you have a very slow heart rate, heart failure, or an irregular heartbeat. Always tell your doctor if you have heart disease or low blood pressure.
  • Not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor.
  • Remove contact lenses before using these drops and wait 15 minutes before putting them back in.

  • Your vision might be blurry for a short time after using these drops, so do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear.
  • If you have diabetes, Betoptic can hide symptoms of low blood sugar, so tell your doctor.
  • Inform your doctor or dentist that you are using Betoptic before any surgery or anesthesia.
  • Use Betoptic only in your eyes.
