Betolo

Betolo is a throat spray that contains two antiseptic ingredients and a local anesthetic to help relieve sore throat symptoms in adults and teenagers 12 years and older.

How to Use

Dosage

Adults and teenagers over 15 years: Spray 2 puffs into the throat 1 to 6 times a day. Teenagers 12-15 years: Spray 2 puffs into the throat 1 to 4 times a day.

Method

1. Lift the nozzle of the spray bottle. 2. Remove the plastic cap. Insert the nozzle into your mouth, aiming at the sore area. Press the spray head with your index finger. Hold your breath while spraying. 3. After each use, remove and dry the nozzle, then put the plastic cap back on. For use only in the mouth and throat.

Important

Do not use more than 6 times a day for adults and teenagers over 15, and not more than 4 times a day for teenagers 12-15 years. Always wait at least 2 hours between doses.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergic reactions, such as rash, hives, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or very low blood pressure with fainting. If these occur, stop treatment immediately.
  • Nausea (feeling sick). If this occurs, stop treatment.
  • Temporary numbness of the tongue.
  • If the medicine goes down the 'wrong pipe' (e.g., causes coughing during a meal or a choking feeling), stop treatment and consult a doctor.

Important Warnings

  • See a doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 3 days or if they get worse.
  • Do not use Betolo if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or if you have or suspect you have methemoglobinemia (a blood disorder).
  • The anesthetic in this medicine can make you cough or feel like you're choking while eating. It can also numb your tongue and increase the risk of biting it. Do not eat or drink right after using this medicine.
  • If you have asthma or narrowed airways, only use Betolo under a doctor's supervision.
  • Do not use this medicine for more than 5 days, as it can upset the natural balance of good bacteria in your mouth and throat.

  • Follow the dose instructions carefully. Using too much or for too long can affect your heart or nervous system and cause seizures.
  • Do not use this medicine in your mouth or throat if you have a large open wound.
  • Elderly or frail people are more sensitive to side effects; talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
  • This medicine is not for children under 12 years old.
  • Do not take this medicine right before meals or drinks.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • Do not breathe in the spray while applying it.
  • Do not let this medicine get into your eyes, nose, or ears.
  • Do not use other mouth or throat antiseptics while using Betolo.
