How to Use

Dosage

For 8 mg tablets, take 1 or 2 tablets 3 times a day. For 16 mg tablets, take ½ or 1 tablet 3 times a day. For 24 mg tablets, take 1 tablet 2 times a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water. You can take the medicine with or without food. Taking it with food may help reduce stomach upset.

Important

Up to 48 mg of betahistine per day, divided into several doses.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Indigestion or stomach upset (including stomach pain, bloating, or feeling full)
  • Headache
RARE
  • Red, lumpy or itchy skin rash, or inflamed skin
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Rapid drop in blood pressure
  • Unconsciousness
  • Difficulty breathing

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Betaserc if you are allergic to betahistine or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Do not use Betaserc if you have a tumor on your adrenal gland (called a pheochromocytoma).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have ever had a stomach ulcer or asthma.
  • Betaserc is not recommended for children under 18 years of age.
  • Do not use during pregnancy unless your doctor says it is absolutely necessary after discussing it with them.

  • Do not breastfeed while taking Betaserc unless your doctor gives you permission.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking antihistamines (they might make Betaserc less effective) or MAO inhibitors (they might increase Betaserc's effects).
