Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Reactions at the injection site, such as bruising, cold sensation, redness, bleeding, swelling, pain, itching, rash, and warmth.
  • Nasopharyngitis (runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, watery eyes).
RARE
  • Hypersensitivity or allergic reactions, such as itching, rash, and hives.
  • Dizziness.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Berinert if you have had a life-threatening allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to the protein C1-esterase inhibitor or any other ingredient in this medicine. If you have a severe allergic reaction during treatment, stop the medicine right away.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had blood clot problems, heart or blood vessel disease, a stroke, thick blood, a catheter in your veins, or have been immobile for a long time. Certain medications (like birth control pills) can also increase this risk.
  • Do not mix Berinert with other medicines or diluents in the same syringe.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.
