How to Use

Dosage

For acute attacks, typically 20 IU per kg body weight. For prevention before a procedure, adults receive 1000 IU and children 15-30 IU per kg, given up to 6 hours before the procedure.

Method

The medicine is given slowly as an injection into a vein.

Important

The dose is based on body weight, and no clear maximum daily dose is specified for acute cases. For prevention, the maximum dose is 1000 IU for adults or 30 IU/kg for children, given before a procedure.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Formation of blood clots
  • Fever and burning or tingling at the injection site
  • Allergic reactions, such as irregular or rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, skin redness, rash, difficulty breathing, headache, dizziness, nausea, or even shock.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to this medicine or any of its ingredients.
  • If you experience a severe allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing or dizziness, stop the medicine immediately.
  • If your throat swells, seek immediate medical attention.
  • In some cases, there is an increased risk of blood clots. Talk to your doctor if this concerns you.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The medicine should only be used if clearly necessary.
