How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the correct amount for your child based on their age, weight, and health condition.

Method

This medicine is given as a drip into a vein by a doctor or nurse.

Important

Your doctor will determine the maximum daily dose for your child based on their individual fluid needs.

Possible Side Effects

  • Infection at the injection site

  • Irritation or swelling in the vein where the medicine is given (phlebitis), causing redness, pain, or burning.

  • Blood clot at the injection site, causing pain, swelling, or redness.

  • Leaking of the medicine outside the vein into nearby tissues, which can cause tissue damage and scarring.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if your child is allergic to any ingredients in Benelyte.
  • Do not use if your child has too much fluid in their body.
  • For premature babies and newborns (under 28 days old), this medicine cannot be given at the same time as certain antibiotics called ceftriaxone.
  • Tell your doctor if your child has kidney problems, or problems with blood sugar or salt levels.
