How to Use

Dosage

Usually 100 mg once a day. For stroke prevention, the dose can be 100–300 mg once a day. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with half a glass of water. Do not crush, divide, or chew it.

Important

Do not exceed 300 mg per day unless instructed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Digestive problems
  • Increased bleeding tendency
RARE
  • Sudden wheezing, swelling of the lips, face, or body, rash, fainting, or difficulty swallowing (severe allergic reaction)
  • Redness of the skin with blisters or peeling, possibly with high fever and joint pain (such as erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, or Lyell's syndrome)
  • Unusual bleeding, such as coughing up blood, blood in vomit or urine, or black stools
  • Hives
  • Runny nose
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Severe bleeding in the stomach or intestines, brain hemorrhage, changes in blood cell counts
  • Spasms in lower airways, asthma attacks
  • Inflammation of blood vessels
  • Bruising with purple spots (skin bleeding)
  • Hypersensitivity reactions, such as swelling of lips, face, or body, or shock
  • Reye's syndrome (a very rare disease in children affecting the brain and liver)
  • Unusually heavy or prolonged menstrual periods
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) or hearing loss
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Stomach or duodenal ulcers and perforations
  • Prolonged bleeding time
  • Kidney dysfunction, acute kidney failure
  • Liver dysfunction, increased liver enzyme levels
  • High uric acid levels or low blood sugar

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to other salicylates or NSAIDs, or if you have had asthma attacks or swelling (angioedema) after taking them.
  • Do not take if you currently have or have had stomach or duodenal ulcers or other bleeding, such as a stroke.
  • Do not take if you have ever had a blood clotting problem.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney problems.

  • Do not take if you have severe heart problems that cause shortness of breath and swollen ankles.
  • Do not take if you are in the last three months of pregnancy, especially if your daily dose is over 100 mg.
  • Do not take if you are taking methotrexate at doses higher than 15 mg per week.
  • Do not give to children or adolescents under 16 years without a doctor's recommendation due to the risk of Reye's syndrome.
  • Ensure you stay hydrated; dehydration can worsen kidney function with acetylsalicylic acid.
  • This medicine is not for pain relief or fever reduction.
  • Inform your doctor if you are having surgery, even minor procedures, as acetylsalicylic acid thins the blood and increases bleeding risk.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Initiation of treatment under supervision of a physician. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. (updated 19.9.2025)
