How to Use

Dosage

For adults, use 2000-3000 ml of solution four times daily; for children, the dose is 600-800 ml/m² BSA (up to 1000 ml/m² overnight) four times daily. For automated dialysis, adults use 2000-3000 ml per exchange, 3-10 exchanges overnight plus 1-2 daytime exchanges; children use 800-1000 ml/m² BSA (up to 1400 ml/m² overnight) for 5-10 exchanges overnight.

Method

The solution is used for peritoneal dialysis, where it is infused into the abdominal cavity and then drained after a dwell time. It must be prepared by mixing solutions from two chambers of the bag, warmed to body temperature, and then infused. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

Important

The maximum daily dose is determined by your doctor based on your specific treatment plan, typically 3000 ml per exchange for adults and 1400 ml/m² BSA for children in automated dialysis.

  • High body fluid levels (fluid in tissues and lungs, high blood pressure, shortness of breath)
  • Dizziness

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if your blood potassium is very low, your blood calcium is very high, or you have metabolic acidosis (a condition where too much acid builds up in your body).
  • Peritoneal dialysis should not be started if you have abdominal injuries, severe burns, skin inflammation, peritonitis, unhealed wounds, hernias, abdominal/intestinal tumors, inflammatory bowel disease, or intestinal blockage.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have severe salt imbalance (electrolyte deficiency) from vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Get urgent medical help if you show signs of peritonitis (cloudy dialysis fluid, stomach pain, fever) or severe stomach pain, swelling, or vomiting, as these could be signs of a serious complication called encapsulated peritoneal sclerosis.
  • Peritoneal dialysis can lead to a loss of proteins and water-soluble vitamins. It's important to maintain a good diet or take supplements to prevent nutritional deficiencies.
