This medicine helps relax muscles and reduce muscle stiffness or spasms caused by conditions like MS, stroke, or spinal cord injuries.
Adults usually start with 15 mg daily, divided into 3 doses. The dose is slowly increased to 30-80 mg per day, split into 2-4 doses. For children, the dose depends on their weight, starting very low (around 0.3 mg/kg daily) and gradually increasing.
Take the tablets with a meal and swallow them with liquid. If needed, the tablets can be broken into smaller pieces. Always follow your doctor's instructions.
The typical maximum daily dose is 80 mg for adults, but your doctor might prescribe more. For children under 8 years, the maximum is 40 mg daily; for children over 8 years, it's 60 mg daily.
Avoid use in older adults. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include sedation, confusion, depression, nightmares, muscular weakness and hypotension. Increases risk of falls. (updated 16.9.2024)
