Azyter is an antibiotic eye drop used to treat certain bacterial eye infections in adults and children.

How to Use

Dosage

One drop in the affected eye twice a day (morning and evening) for three days.

Method

Wash your hands. Look up, gently pull down your lower eyelid, and drop one drop into the affected eye. Do not touch your eye or eyelids with the tip of the dropper. Discard the single-dose container immediately after use. Do not inject or swallow.

Important

Two drops per day (one in the morning and one in the evening) during the treatment period.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Temporary eye discomfort (itching, burning, stinging).
RARE
  • Blurred vision.
  • Sticky feeling in the eye.
  • Feeling of something in the eye.
  • Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity).
  • Inflammation of the conjunctiva (may be due to infection or allergy).
  • Allergic conjunctivitis.
  • Inflammation of the cornea (keratitis).
  • Itchy eyelids (eyelid eczema).
  • Dry, red, swollen eyelids (eyelid edema).
  • Eye allergy.
  • Watery eyes.
  • Red eyelids (eyelid erythema).
  • Redness of the conjunctiva (conjunctival hyperemia).
  • Severe allergic reaction causing swelling of the face or throat (angioedema).
  • Severe skin reactions such as blisters on the skin, mouth, and eyes (Stevens-Johnson syndrome or TEN); rash with fever and swollen glands (DRESS syndrome); itchy red bumps (drug reaction); widespread red and peeling skin (exfoliative dermatitis); rapidly appearing red areas with pus-filled blisters (AGEP).

Important Warnings

  • If you have an allergic reaction, stop treatment and contact your doctor.
  • If your symptoms don't get better within three days or if you have unusual symptoms, contact your doctor.
  • Do not wear contact lenses during the eye infection.
  • This medicine is only for your eyes. Do not inject or swallow it.
  • Do not use Azyter if you are allergic to azithromycin, other macrolide antibiotics, or medium-chain triglycerides.

  • Your vision may be blurry for a short time after using the drops. Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear again.
