How to Use

Dosage

The dosage varies depending on the treatment duration (3 or 5 days) or specific infection.

Method

For a 3-day course, take 12.5 ml (500 mg) once daily. For a 5-day course, take 12.5 ml (500 mg) on day 1, then 6.25 ml (250 mg) on days 2-5. For chlamydia, take 25 ml (1000 mg) as a single dose. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 1000 mg (25 ml) for specific infections or 500 mg (12.5 ml) for multi-day treatments.

  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema multiforme, AGEP, DRESS)
  • Bone and joint inflammation, muscle, back or neck pain
  • Difficulty or pain when urinating, kidney pain
  • Uterine bleeding, testicular problems
  • Swelling of skin, weakness, general feeling of illness, fatigue, facial swelling, chest pain, fever, pain, swelling of extremities
  • Abnormal lab test results (blood, liver, kidney)
  • Post-procedure complications
  • Throat inflammation
  • Sensitivity to light or sun, with skin changes
  • Abnormal liver function
  • Decreased sensation
  • Irritability
  • Agitation
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia), causing pale skin, weakness, or shortness of breath
  • Low platelet count, increasing risk of bleeding or bruising
  • Aggression, anxiety, severe confusion, hallucinations
  • Fainting, seizures, hyperactivity, altered sense of smell, loss of smell or taste, muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis)
  • Heart rhythm problems, abnormal ECG
  • Low blood pressure
  • Tongue or tooth discoloration
  • Liver failure, severe liver inflammation
  • Kidney failure, kidney inflammation

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Azithromycin Sandoz if you are allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin, any other macrolide or ketolide antibiotic, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reactions such as sudden swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, severe dizziness, or serious skin reactions like rash with blisters or peeling skin.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • Tell your doctor if you have nerve or mental health problems.

  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, such as heart failure, a very slow heartbeat, irregular heartbeats, or a condition called long QT syndrome, as this medicine can increase the risk of heart rhythm problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have low potassium or magnesium levels in your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you have myasthenia gravis (a type of muscle weakness).
  • If you get diarrhea or loose stools during or after treatment, tell your doctor right away and do not take any anti-diarrhea medicine without talking to your doctor first.
  • Contact a doctor immediately if a newborn baby (under 6 weeks old) taking this medicine vomits or becomes irritable during feeding.
  • If you take antacids for indigestion, take Azithromycin Sandoz at least two hours before or two hours after the antacid.
  • If you get severe, long-lasting, or bloody diarrhea with stomach pain or fever, contact your doctor as this may be a sign of a serious bowel inflammation.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice) caused by liver problems.
  • Pancreatitis, causing severe stomach and back pain.
  • Increased or decreased urination, or blood in the urine.
  • Rash caused by sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Unusual bruising or bleeding.
  • Irregular heartbeat.
