How to Use

Dosage

For a 3-day course, take 500 mg once a day. For a 5-day course, take 500 mg on day 1, then 250 mg on days 2-5. For chlamydia, take a single dose of 1000 mg.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take them with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 1000 mg in a single day.

  • Heart palpitations or abnormal heart rhythm
  • Breathing problems or nosebleeds
  • Constipation or stomach inflammation
  • Dry mouth or mouth sores
  • Liver problems (e.g., inflammation, abnormal tests, yellow skin or eyes)
  • Skin problems (e.g., dry skin, sweating, severe rashes like Stevens-Johnson syndrome, sun sensitivity, pus-filled blisters)
  • Muscle, back, or neck pain
  • Kidney problems (e.g., pain, changes in urination)
  • Genital problems (e.g., vaginal bleeding, testicular issues)
  • Weakness, fever, or general aches
  • Throat inflammation
  • Ringing in ears (tinnitus)
  • Reduced sense of touch
  • Irritability or agitation
  • Delayed severe allergic reaction (DRESS syndrome)

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and get medical help right away if you have trouble breathing or swallowing, swollen face, lips, or throat, severe dizziness, or a severe, blistering, or itchy rash.
  • Contact your doctor as soon as possible if you have severe, long-lasting, or bloody diarrhea with stomach pain or fever.
  • Contact your doctor if your skin or eyes turn yellow (jaundice), or if you experience sudden weakness, dark urine, or easy bleeding.
  • Contact your doctor if you have severe pain in your stomach or back.
  • Contact your doctor if you have changes in how much you urinate, or if there is blood in your urine.

  • Contact your doctor if you have an irregular or fast heartbeat.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, nerve/mental disorders, a specific muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), or heart conditions before taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if your symptoms get worse during or soon after treatment.
