How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is 5 mg twice a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take them with or without food, about 12 hours apart.

Important

Your doctor will adjust your dose based on how well you tolerate the medicine.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • High blood pressure or increased blood pressure
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Stomach pain
  • Indigestion
  • Soreness in the mouth, tongue, or throat
  • Constipation
  • Shortness of breath
  • Cough
  • Hoarseness
  • Lack of energy, weakness, or tiredness
  • Underactive thyroid gland (can be detected by blood test)
  • Redness and swelling of the palms or soles (hand-foot syndrome), rash, dry skin
  • Joint pain, pain in hands or feet
  • Loss of appetite
  • Protein in the urine (can be detected by urine sample)
  • Weight loss
  • Headache
  • Changes in taste or loss of taste
  • Dehydration (fluid loss)
  • Kidney failure
  • Flatulence
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Bleeding gums
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Burning or stinging sensation in the mouth
  • Overactive thyroid gland (can be detected by blood test)
  • Sore throat or nose, and irritated throat
  • Muscle pain
  • Nosebleed
  • Itching
  • Skin redness
  • Hair loss
  • Ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Decreased red blood cell count (can be detected by blood test)
  • Decreased platelet count (cells that help blood clot) (can be detected by blood test)
  • Red blood cells in the urine (can be detected by urine sample)
  • Changes in levels of certain chemicals/enzymes in the blood (can be detected by blood test)
  • Increased red blood cell count (can be detected by blood test)
  • Swelling in the abdomen, legs or ankles, bulging neck veins, extreme tiredness, shortness of breath (signs of heart failure)
  • Fistulas (abnormal passages from one body cavity to another or to the skin)
  • Dizziness
  • Inflammation of the gallbladder
RARE
  • Decreased white blood cell count (can be detected by blood test)
  • Enlargement and weakening of a blood vessel wall or rupture of a blood vessel wall (aneurysms and arterial dissections)

Important Warnings

  • This medicine can raise your blood pressure. Your doctor will check your blood pressure before and during treatment to make sure it's controlled.
  • Axitinib Stada can affect your thyroid gland. Tell your doctor if you feel very tired, cold, or if your voice changes. Your doctor will check your thyroid function.
  • Seek urgent medical help if you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, numbness or weakness on one side of your body, trouble speaking, headache, or vision changes, as these can be signs of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack.
  • This medicine can increase the risk of bleeding. Tell your doctor if you have any bleeding, cough up blood, or have black, tarry stools.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have severe or persistent stomach pain, as this medicine can increase the risk of holes in your stomach or intestines or abnormal connections (fistulas).

  • Tell your doctor if you are having surgery or have a wound that is not healing, as this medicine may affect wound healing. Treatment might be paused before surgery.
  • Seek urgent medical help if you get a headache, confusion, seizures, or vision changes, with or without high blood pressure, as these could be signs of a rare brain condition called PRES.
  • Your doctor will check your liver function with blood tests before and during treatment if you have liver problems.
  • This medicine can increase the risk of heart failure. Tell your doctor if you feel very tired, have swelling in your abdomen, legs or ankles, shortness of breath, or bulging neck veins.
  • Do not take this medicine with grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as it can increase the risk of side effects.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it can harm an unborn baby or breastfed infant. Use reliable contraception during treatment and for one week after the last dose.
