How to Use

Dosage

Take 5 mg two times a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water, with or without food. Take your doses about 12 hours apart.

Important

The highest daily dose is usually 10 mg. Your doctor might change your dose based on how well you handle the medicine.

  • Protein in your pee (shown in urine tests)
  • Losing weight
  • Headache
  • Taste changes or losing your sense of taste
  • Not enough fluids in your body (dehydration)
  • Kidney problems
  • Gas or bloating
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Bleeding gums
  • Bleeding from the bottom
  • Burning or stinging feeling in your mouth
  • Thyroid gland working too much (shown in blood tests)
  • Sore throat or nose
  • Muscle pain
  • Nosebleeds
  • Itching
  • Red skin
  • Hair loss
  • Ringing or buzzing in ears (tinnitus)
  • Low red blood cells (anemia) (shown in blood tests)
  • Low platelets (cells that help blood clot) (shown in blood tests)
  • Red blood cells in your pee (shown in urine tests)
  • Changes in certain blood chemicals or enzymes (shown in blood tests)
  • High red blood cells (shown in blood tests)
  • Swelling in belly, legs, or ankles, bulging neck veins, extreme tiredness, shortness of breath (signs of heart failure)
  • Fistulas (abnormal passage from one body part to another or to the skin)
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Inflammation of the gallbladder
RARE
  • Low white blood cells (shown in blood tests)
  • Bulging and weakening of a blood vessel wall, or a tear in a blood vessel wall (aneurysms and arterial dissections)

Important Warnings

  • This medicine can make your blood pressure go up. Your doctor will check your blood pressure often.
  • This medicine can affect your thyroid gland. Tell your doctor if you feel very tired, cold, or if your voice changes.
  • Get help right away if you have chest pain, trouble breathing, weakness on one side, trouble speaking, bad headache, changes in vision, or feel dizzy. These could be signs of a serious blood clot or stroke.
  • This medicine can make you bleed more easily. Tell your doctor if you have any bleeding, cough up blood, or have black, tarry stools.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had an aneurysm (a bulge in a blood vessel wall) or a tear in a blood vessel wall.

  • Tell your doctor if you have severe stomach pain. This medicine can cause a hole in your stomach or intestines, or an abnormal passage (fistula).
  • Tell your doctor if you are having surgery or have a wound that is not healing. You might need to stop this medicine before surgery.
  • Get help right away if you have a headache, feel confused, have seizures, or changes in vision, even if your blood pressure is normal. This could be a rare but serious brain issue.
  • Your doctor will do blood tests to check your liver before and during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you are very tired, have swelling in your belly, legs, or ankles, are short of breath, or have bulging veins in your neck. These could be signs of heart failure.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can increase side effects.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use birth control during treatment and for one week after your last dose.
