How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 12 years: 2 ml (one single dose unit) inhaled 3 to 4 times a day.

Method

This medicine is for inhalation using a nebulizer. Do not swallow the solution.

Important

Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of 8 ml (4 single doses), or as prescribed by your doctor.

  • Irregular heartbeat

  • Dry throat
  • Chest tightness with coughing, wheezing or shortness of breath right after inhalation
  • Laryngeal spasm (throat muscle cramp)
  • Swelling of the throat

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Atrovent if you are allergic to ipratropium bromide, atropine, or any similar medicines, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist before using Atrovent if you have an enlarged prostate, urinary tract narrowing, narrow-angle glaucoma, or cystic fibrosis.
  • Stop using this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience chest tightness, coughing, wheezing, or shortness of breath right after taking the medicine, as these can be signs of worsened breathing (bronchospasm).
  • Ensure the nebulizer solution does not get into your eyes. If it does, rinse your eyes with water for several minutes and contact a doctor if irritation persists.
  • Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.

  • Contact your doctor if your breathing difficulties continue despite treatment.
  • Maintain good oral hygiene when using Atrovent, as it may cause dry mouth, which increases the risk of tooth decay.
