Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Vision problems, such as dilated pupils, difficulty focusing, blurred vision, and sensitivity to light.
  • Reduced secretions in the airways.
  • Dry mouth, which can cause difficulty swallowing and speaking, and thirst.
  • Constipation and heartburn (reflux).
  • Less stomach acid.
  • Loss of taste.
  • Feeling sick (nausea).
  • Vomiting.
  • Bloating or swelling.
  • Less sweating.
  • Dry skin.
  • Skin rash or hives.
  • Feeling restless or agitated, especially with higher doses.
  • Loss of coordination, especially with higher doses.
  • Confusion, especially with higher doses.
  • Seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), especially with higher doses.
  • Overheating.
  • Certain heart issues, like a fast or irregular heartbeat, or a temporary slowing of the heart rate.
  • Hot flashes.
  • Difficulty urinating.
RARE
  • Psychotic reactions.
  • Allergic reactions.
  • Seizures.
  • Feeling sleepy or drowsy.
  • Severe allergic reactions (hypersensitivity).
  • Very irregular heart rhythm, including very fast and uncontrolled beats (ventricular fibrillation).
  • Chest pain.
  • Temporary very high blood pressure.
  • Headache.
  • Restlessness.
  • Unsteady walking and balance problems.
  • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to atropine sulfate or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have trouble urinating, especially if you are a man with an enlarged prostate.
  • Inform your doctor if you have bowel paralysis, severe inflammation of the large intestine, or a bowel blockage.
  • Let your doctor know if you have high pressure in your eyes (glaucoma).
  • This medicine should be used with caution in babies, small children, and the elderly, as they may be more sensitive to its effects.
