How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the dose usually starts at 40 mg per day for at least 7 days, then your doctor may increase it to 80-100 mg. For children and adolescents over 6 years, your doctor will determine the dose based on weight, starting low and increasing over time.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water, with or without food. Take once or twice a day, preferably at the same time each day to help you remember. Do not open the capsules, as the contents can irritate the eyes.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 100 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to atomoxetine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have used an antidepressant called an MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) in the last two weeks, as it can cause serious side effects.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have narrow-angle glaucoma (an eye condition with high eye pressure).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a severe heart problem that could worsen if the medicine increases your heart rate or blood pressure.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe brain blood vessel problems, such as a stroke or an aneurysm (a bulging blood vessel).

  • Do not take this medicine if you have a tumor on your adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma).
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms of serious liver problems, such as dark urine, yellow skin or eyes, right-sided abdominal pain, unexplained nausea, fatigue, itching, or flu-like symptoms.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as confusion, restlessness, rapid heart rate, or high fever, especially if taking other medicines at the same time.
  • Do not open the capsules, as their contents can irritate the eyes. If contents get into eyes, rinse immediately with water and contact a doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you have suicidal thoughts or have attempted suicide.
  • Tell your doctor if you become aggressive, hostile, or violent, or if these symptoms worsen.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of epilepsy or seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have psychotic symptoms, such as hallucinations (hearing voices or seeing things that are not there) or paranoia (believing things that are not true).
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a prolonged and painful erection.
  • Tell your doctor if you have poor blood circulation in your fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon), which causes numbness and paleness.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience unusual mood changes or mood swings.
