How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will set your dose, usually starting low and increasing gradually based on your weight and how you respond to the medicine.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water, with or without food. Do not open the capsules. Take the medicine 1–2 times a day (morning and evening) at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 100 mg.

  • Fainting
  • Migraine
  • Blurred vision
  • Abnormal skin sensations (burning, tingling, prickling)

  • Abnormal heart rhythm (prolonged QT interval)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Restlessness
  • Poor circulation causing numb and white fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)
  • Prolonged, painful erection
  • Abnormal or absent orgasm or irregular menstruation or failed ejaculation
  • Red, raised, itchy rash (hives)
  • Muscle cramps
  • Liver damage
  • Suicidal thoughts or attempts
  • Aggressiveness, unfriendliness, or anger
  • Mood swings and changes
  • Severe allergic reaction (swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing, hives)
  • Psychotic symptoms (hallucinations, delusions, paranoia)
  • Bruxism (teeth grinding)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to atomoxetine or any other ingredients, or if you have used certain antidepressants (MAOIs) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not open the capsules, as the contents can irritate your eyes. If contents get into your eyes, rinse immediately with water and contact a doctor.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you have dark urine, yellow skin or eyes, unexplained nausea, or pain on the right side of your stomach, as these could be signs of liver damage.
  • Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, serious heart problems, high or low blood pressure, stroke, or other blood vessel problems, as this medicine might make them worse.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had or have suicidal thoughts, aggressiveness, mania (very high mood), psychotic symptoms (hearing or seeing things that aren't real), seizures, or severe mood swings.

  • This medicine can cause serotonin syndrome, especially if taken with other medicines. Seek immediate help if you have confusion, restlessness, stiffness, hallucinations, or a fast heart rate.
  • Do not take if you have a tumor on your adrenal gland called pheochromocytoma.
