How to Use

Dosage

The doctor will determine the dose based on weight. For children over 70 kg, adolescents, and adults, the starting dose is 40 mg daily for at least 7 days, then increased to a maintenance dose of 80-100 mg daily. For children up to 70 kg, the starting dose is 0.5 mg/kg daily for at least 7 days, then increased to about 1.2 mg/kg daily.

Method

Swallow capsules whole with water, with or without food. Take usually 1-2 times a day (morning and late afternoon/early evening). Do not open the capsules, as their contents can irritate your eyes and skin.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 100 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to atomoxetine or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have used MAO inhibitors (a type of antidepressant) in the last two weeks, as this combination can be dangerous.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have narrow-angle glaucoma (high pressure in your eye).
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe heart problems, blood vessel problems in your brain (like a stroke), or high or low blood pressure, as this medicine can worsen these conditions.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a tumor on your adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma).

  • Children and adolescents taking this medicine may have a higher risk of suicidal thoughts. If you or your child have such thoughts, talk to a doctor immediately.
  • Stop taking this medicine and call a doctor right away if you notice signs of severe liver problems, such as dark urine, yellow skin or eyes, right-sided abdominal tenderness, unexplained nausea, fatigue, or itching.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had epilepsy or seizures before, as this medicine might increase the risk of seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have psychotic symptoms (like hearing voices or seeing things that aren't there), unusual excitement (mania), or aggressive feelings, as these can worsen with this medicine.
  • Do not open the capsules, as their contents can irritate your eyes and skin. If the contents get into your eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and contact a doctor. Also wash your hands and any other exposed body parts as soon as possible.
