How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will set your dose based on your weight. For children and teens under 70 kg, start with 0.5 mg/kg daily for at least 7 days, then usually increase to 1.2 mg/kg daily. For those over 70 kg and adults, start with 40 mg daily for at least 7 days, then usually increase to 80-100 mg daily.

Method

Take this medicine once or twice a day, usually in the morning and late afternoon/early evening. Swallow the capsules whole with water, with or without food. Do not open or empty the capsules. Take your medicine at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 100 mg.

  • Involuntary teeth grinding (bruxism)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to atomoxetine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have used an MAO inhibitor (MAOI) in the last two weeks, as it can cause serious or life-threatening reactions. Do not start MAOIs for at least 14 days after stopping this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have narrow-angle glaucoma (an eye condition with high eye pressure).
  • Do not take if you have a severe heart problem that could worsen with increased heart rate or blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have severe brain blood vessel problems, such as a stroke or an aneurysm.

  • Tell your doctor if you have psychotic symptoms like hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't real), delusions, or paranoia.
  • Tell your doctor if you have mania (feeling overly happy or excited) or agitation.
  • Tell your doctor if you have aggressive or hostile feelings.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of epilepsy or seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have unusual mood swings or uncontrollable body twitches or repeated sounds/words (tics).
