How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

One tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low sodium levels in the blood, which can cause weakness or muscle cramps.
  • High or low potassium levels in the blood, causing tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling.
  • High cholesterol, sugar, or uric acid levels in the blood.
  • Sugar in the urine.
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, or weakness.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infection.
RARE
  • Low blood pressure, causing weakness or dizziness.
  • Loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation, or stomach irritation.
  • Rash, hives, or skin sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice).
  • Worsening kidney function, especially if you already have kidney or heart problems.
  • Sleep problems, depression, or restlessness.
  • Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet.
  • Temporary blurred vision.
  • Irregular heartbeat.
  • Severe breathing difficulties, including lung inflammation or fluid in the lungs.
  • Fever.
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), causing moderate to severe stomach pain.
  • Muscle cramps.
  • Damaged blood vessels, appearing as red or purple spots on the skin.
  • Low red or white blood cells or platelets, leading to tiredness, infection, fever, or easy bruising.
  • Severe skin rash that develops quickly, with peeling skin, blisters, and possibly mouth sores.
  • Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), with severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, and confusion.
  • Swelling in the intestines (intestinal angioedema), causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Itching.
  • Back, joint, or muscle pain.
  • Liver problems, including inflammation of the liver (hepatitis), causing tiredness, yellow skin/eyes, and flu-like symptoms.
  • Cough.
  • Nausea.
  • Sudden nearsightedness.
  • Reduced vision or eye pain due to high pressure in the eyes.
  • Systemic and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (an allergic condition causing fever, joint pain, rash with redness, blisters, peeling, and bumps).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Atacand Plus if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamide medicines, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use Atacand Plus if you are pregnant (especially after the first 3 months) or trying to get pregnant, as it can harm your baby. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems, severe liver disease, or a blocked bile duct.
  • Do not use if you have consistently low blood potassium, high blood calcium, or have had gout.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure lowering medicine called aliskiren.

  • This medicine can increase your risk of skin and lip cancer. Protect your skin from sun and UV light while using Atacand Plus.
  • If you experience blurred vision or eye pain, seek medical attention immediately. These could be signs of serious eye conditions that can lead to permanent vision loss if untreated.
  • If you develop severe shortness of breath or breathing difficulties after taking Atacand Plus, seek immediate medical attention.
  • If you get stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea after taking Atacand Plus, talk to your doctor. Do not stop taking the medicine on your own.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
