How to Use

Dosage

Usually, take 8 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

Do not take more than 32 mg in a single day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling dizzy or lightheaded
  • Headache
  • Respiratory infection
  • Low blood pressure, which may cause weakness and dizziness
  • High potassium levels in your blood, which might make you feel tired or weak
  • Changes in kidney function, especially if you have kidney or heart problems
RARE
  • Swelling in the gut (intestinal angioedema) causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (serious allergic reaction)
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells, which can make you feel tired, get infections, or have a fever
  • Skin rash or hives
  • Itching
  • Back, joint, or muscle pain
  • Changes in liver function, including liver inflammation (hepatitis), which might cause tiredness, yellowing of skin/eyes, or flu-like symptoms
  • Nausea
  • Low sodium levels in your blood, which might make you feel weak, tired, or have muscle cramps
  • Cough
  • Diarrhea

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant (it's also best to avoid Atacand in early pregnancy).
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease or blocked bile ducts.
  • Do not give to children under 1 year old.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
