How to Use

Dosage

Typically, one 100 mg tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Important

The maximum daily dose is three 100 mg tablets per day.

  • Stomach and intestinal ulcers, which in very rare cases can lead to perforation
  • Bleeding inside the skull
  • Changes in blood count
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Impaired hearing
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
  • Severe skin reactions, such as erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome) leading to tissue death
  • Bronchoconstriction (narrowing of the airways) and asthma attack
  • Vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels)
  • Swelling under the skin (Quincke's edema), typically affecting lips, eyelids, and genitals, but can occur anywhere on the body
  • Decreased white blood cell count and weakened resistance to infections. If you experience fever and infection symptoms (e.g., sore throat), contact a doctor immediately for a blood test to check white blood cell count.
  • Elevated liver enzyme levels (checked by blood test)
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
  • Kidney dysfunction

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, salicylates, other anti-inflammatory painkillers, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have previously had an asthma attack or a severe allergic reaction to acetylsalicylic acid or other anti-inflammatory painkillers.
  • Do not use if you have a bleeding disorder (like hemophilia) or a tendency to bleed for other reasons.
  • Do not use if you currently have a stomach or duodenal ulcer.
  • Do not use if you have thrombocytopenia (low platelet count in your blood).

  • Do not use if you have severe kidney disease.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart disease.
  • Do not use if you have liver cirrhosis.
  • Do not use if you are currently taking methotrexate at a dose of 15 mg/week or more.
  • Do not use if you are in the last three months of pregnancy and taking more than 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid per day.
  • ASA-ratiopharm is not recommended for children without a doctor's prescription, especially with viral infections like chickenpox or flu, due to a very rare but life-threatening condition called Reye's syndrome.
  • Acetylsalicylic acid increases the risk of bleeding even at very low doses and after a few days of use. Inform all doctors, surgeons, anesthesiologists, or dentists if you are scheduled for even a minor operation.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Initiation of treatment under supervision of a physician. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. (updated 19.9.2025)
