How to Use

Dosage

Typically 50-250 mg once a day.

Method

Take the tablet with plenty of fluid. For a heart attack emergency, chew 150-500 mg as soon as possible. These tablets have a special coating so they dissolve in your small intestine, not your stomach, which helps reduce stomach irritation.

Important

Do not exceed 250 mg for regular daily use, unless otherwise instructed by a doctor for emergency situations.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Increased tendency to bleed
  • Upper abdominal discomfort, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, diarrhea
RARE
  • Hives
  • Runny nose
  • Shortness of breath
  • Bleeding inside the skull
  • Changes in blood cell counts
  • Severe gastrointestinal bleeding, stomach or intestinal ulcers that can rarely lead to perforation
  • Anaphylactic reactions (severe allergic reactions)
  • Headache, dizziness, confusion, impaired hearing, and ringing in the ears, usually signs of overdose
  • Severe skin reactions like erythema multiforme, life-threatening Stevens-Johnson syndrome, epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), and skin rash
  • Bronchial constriction, asthma attack
  • Blood vessel inflammation
  • Elevated liver enzyme levels
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
  • Kidney function disorders

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, salicylates, other anti-inflammatory pain medicines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • This medicine increases the risk of bleeding. Tell your doctor or dentist if you are scheduled for any surgery.
  • Do not use if you currently have a stomach or duodenal ulcer, or a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding in the digestive tract.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney, heart, or liver failure.
  • Do not use during the last three months of pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using during other stages of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

  • Not recommended for children without a doctor's prescription due to the very rare but serious risk of Reye's syndrome with certain viral infections.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking other blood thinners, cancer/rheumatism medicines (methotrexate 15 mg/week or more), or other pain/inflammation medicines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Initiation of treatment under supervision of a physician. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. (updated 19.9.2025)
