How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor or surgeon will decide the right amount of ARTISS for you based on the type of surgery and the size of the area being treated.

Method

This medicine is applied only during surgery to the surface of the skin or soft tissue. The wound area must be dried first.

Important

Your doctor or surgeon will determine the correct dose during surgery. There is no set maximum daily dose as it is applied once during a surgical procedure.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use ARTISS if you are allergic to any of its ingredients (e.g., bovine proteins or aprotinin).
  • ARTISS is not for treating heavy, spurting bleeding.
  • ARTISS does not replace stitches or other ways to close wounds.
  • Never inject ARTISS into veins or tissues, as this can cause dangerous blood clots.
  • When ARTISS is sprayed, your doctor will ensure the device is used correctly to prevent air from entering your body.

  • Tell your doctor if you have received ARTISS or a similar medicine before, as this may increase your risk of an allergic reaction.
  • Because ARTISS is made from human blood, there's a very small risk of transmitting an infection. However, many steps are taken during manufacturing to reduce this risk.
  • ARTISS should be applied in a thin layer only. Too thick a layer can make it less effective.
  • Your doctor will protect surrounding areas that do not need to be sealed.
  • Do not re-apply the medicine over an already dried ARTISS layer.
