How to Use

Dosage

One 25 mg tablet daily.

Method

Take by mouth, after a meal, around the same time each day.

Important

The recommended daily dose is one 25 mg tablet. Do not exceed this dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Depression
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Headache
  • Hot flashes
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Increased sweating
  • Tiredness
  • Muscle and joint pain (including osteoarthritis, back pain, arthritis, and joint stiffness)
  • Decreased white blood cells
  • Abdominal pain
  • Increased liver enzymes
  • Increased breakdown products from red blood cells in the blood
  • Increased levels of a blood enzyme due to liver damage
  • Pain
  • Loss of appetite
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome (tingling, numbness, and pain in the hand, excluding the little finger) or skin tingling/prickling
  • Vomiting, constipation, indigestion, diarrhea
  • Hair loss
  • Rash, hives, and itching
  • Weakening of bones (osteoporosis), sometimes leading to fractures
  • Swelling of hands and feet
  • Decreased blood platelets
  • Weakness
RARE
  • Hypersensitivity (allergic reaction)
  • Small blisters on the skin rash area
  • Drowsiness
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Inflammation of liver bile ducts causing yellow skin (jaundice)
  • Low levels of certain white blood cells in the blood

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Aromasin if you are allergic to exemestane or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are still premenopausal (still have periods).
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Do not use Aromasin at the same time as hormone replacement therapy.
  • Do not drive or use machines if you feel drowsy, dizzy, or weak while taking Aromasin.

  • Aromasin contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate which may cause allergic reactions, possibly delayed. Contact your doctor if this happens.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems before taking Aromasin.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had any condition affecting your bone strength. Your doctor may want to measure your bone density before and during Aromasin treatment.
