How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual dose is 15 ml (15 mg) once daily; for young people, it's 10 ml (10 mg) once daily.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth, with or without food, but do not dilute the solution or mix it with food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 30 ml (30 mg) once daily.

  • Restlessness and inability to stay still or seated
  • Akathisia (inner restlessness, strong urge to move)
  • Uncontrolled twitching, jerky, or writhing movements

  • Constipation or difficulty passing stool
  • Indigestion

  • Increased saliva production

  • Decreased or increased prolactin levels in the blood

  • Uncontrolled movements of the mouth, tongue, and limbs (tardive dyskinesia)

  • Drop in blood pressure when standing up, causing dizziness or fainting

  • Decrease in white blood cells

  • Allergic reaction (e.g., swelling of mouth, tongue, face or throat, itching, rash)
  • Onset or worsening of diabetes, ketoacidosis (ketones in blood and urine), or coma
  • Low sodium levels in blood
  • Loss of appetite (anorexia)
  • Weight gain
  • Weight loss
  • Suicidal thoughts, attempts, and suicide
  • Aggression
  • Agitation
  • Nervousness
  • Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (fever, muscle stiffness, fast breathing, sweating, decreased consciousness, sudden changes in blood pressure and heart rate)
  • Seizures
  • Serotonin syndrome (feelings of great happiness, drowsiness, clumsiness, restlessness, feeling drunk, fever, sweating, or stiff muscles)
  • Speech disorders
  • Eyes fixed in one position
  • Sudden unexplained death
  • Life-threatening irregular heartbeat
  • Heart attack
  • Slowed heart rate
  • Blood clots in veins, especially in the legs (swelling, pain, redness), which can travel to the lungs (chest pain and breathing difficulties)
  • High blood pressure
  • Fainting
  • Food getting into the windpipe, risking pneumonia
  • Muscle spasms in the vocal cords
  • Pancreatitis
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal discomfort
  • Stomach upset
  • Liver failure

  • Yellowing of skin and whites of eyes (jaundice)
  • Abnormal liver test results

  • Drug withdrawal symptoms in newborns (if exposed during pregnancy)
  • Prolonged and/or painful erection
  • Body temperature regulation problems or high body temperature

  • Swelling of hands, ankles, or feet
  • Blood tests: high or fluctuating blood sugar levels, increased glycated hemoglobin
  • Inability to resist harmful urges (e.g., strong gambling urges, altered/increased sexual interest, uncontrolled shopping/spending, binge/compulsive eating, urge to wander)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to aripiprazole or any of its ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood sugar, diabetes (or it runs in your family), or a history of seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart or blood vessel problems, strokes, abnormal blood pressure, or blood clots.
  • Tell your doctor if you have unusual or uncontrolled muscle movements, especially in your face.

  • Tell your doctor if you notice strong urges to do things you can't resist, like gambling, overeating, or excessive shopping.
  • This medicine can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and low blood pressure, which may increase the risk of falls, especially in older or frail individuals. Be careful.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 15 years of age.
  • Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines because it can cause dizziness or vision problems.
