How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 1–2 tablets 1–4 times a day.

Method

Take the tablets with or immediately after food, swallowing them whole with a glass of water.

Important

Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.

Possible Side Effects

  • Rash
  • Dizziness or tiredness
  • Loss of appetite, diarrhea, malaise, nausea, flatulence, constipation
  • Headache (do not take other headache medicines at the same time)
  • Drowsiness
RARE
  • Anxiety or confusion
  • Tingling sensation
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Hives, itching
  • Skin sensitivity to light
  • Vision or hearing problems
  • Hepatitis, yellow skin or eyes, reduced liver function
  • Reduced kidney function, kidney inflammation, kidney failure
  • Sneezing, stuffy, itchy or runny nose (rhinitis)
  • Stomach or intestinal ulcer, perforation in digestive tract wall
  • Stomach lining inflammation
  • Small bruises on skin, in mouth, nose or ears
  • Difficulty breathing, wheezing or cough, asthma or worsening asthma
  • Changes in blood values (signs: high fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers, flu-like symptoms, severe tiredness, bleeding from nose or skin)
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Vertigo
  • Fluid retention (swelling)
  • Non-bacterial meningitis
  • Loss of vision
  • Liver damage

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Ardinex if you are allergic to ibuprofen, codeine, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have ever had an allergic reaction (like rash, swollen face, or difficulty breathing) to ibuprofen, aspirin, or other similar pain medicines.
  • Do not use if you have or have had stomach ulcers, intestinal bleeding, or a perforation.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney, liver, or heart failure.
  • Do not use during the last trimester of pregnancy or while breastfeeding, as the medicine can harm the baby.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
