How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet once a day. The dose depends on your condition, usually 30 mg, 60 mg, or 90 mg.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor prescribes. The usual maximum is 60 mg daily, but can be up to 120 mg for very short-term pain from gout (max 8 days) or 90 mg for dental pain (max 3 days).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach pain
  • Swelling in legs or feet due to fluid buildup
  • Dizziness or headache
  • Heart palpitations (feeling your heart beat fast or unevenly)
  • High blood pressure
  • Wheezing or shortness of breath
  • Indigestion, heartburn, or nausea (feeling sick to your stomach)
  • Flu-like symptoms
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions (like a widespread rash, blisters, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, making it hard to breathe)
  • Liver problems (with symptoms like yellow skin or eyes)
  • Very bad stomach pain or bleeding from the stomach (shown by black stools)
  • Heart attack or stroke
  • Feeling confused, anxious, or having trouble sleeping

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking Arcoxia and see a doctor right away if you have trouble breathing, chest pain, or swollen ankles.
  • Do not take Arcoxia if you are allergic to etoricoxib or similar pain medicines (NSAIDs like aspirin).
  • Do not take Arcoxia if you have a stomach ulcer, stomach bleeding, severe liver or kidney disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Do not take Arcoxia if you have heart failure, chest pain, have had a heart attack or stroke, or have very high blood pressure that is not controlled.
  • This medicine is not for children or teenagers under 16 years old.

  • Stop taking Arcoxia and see a doctor right away if your skin or eyes turn yellow (jaundice), you have very bad stomach pain, or your stools become black.
  • Stop taking Arcoxia and see a doctor right away if you have a severe allergic reaction with skin rash, blisters, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat causing difficulty breathing.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. May increase swelling, worsen renal and cardiac failure and cause cardiovascular events. Risk of gastrointestinal bleeding less than with traditional NSAIDs. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
