How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose, usually 30 mg, 60 mg, or 90 mg once a day, depending on your condition.

Method

Take Arcoxia tablets by mouth once a day, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 120 mg in one day, and never exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Lower doses may apply if you have liver problems.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach pain
  • Inflammation and pain in the socket after tooth extraction (dry socket)
  • Swelling of the legs and/or feet due to fluid retention
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat), irregular heart rhythm
  • High blood pressure
  • Wheezing or shortness of breath (bronchospasm)
  • Constipation, gas, stomach lining inflammation (gastritis), heartburn, diarrhea, indigestion/stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, inflammation of the esophagus, mouth ulcers
  • Changes in liver function blood test results
  • Bruising
  • Tiredness and weakness, flu-like symptoms
RARE
  • Allergic reaction, including hives, which can be severe and require immediate medical attention
  • Anxiety, depression, decreased mental sharpness, hallucinations
  • Taste changes, difficulty sleeping, numbness or tingling, drowsiness
  • Blurred vision, eye irritation and redness
  • Abnormal heartbeats (atrial fibrillation), rapid heart rate, heart failure, chest tightness or pressure (angina), heart attack
  • Stroke, mini-stroke (TIA), severe high blood pressure, blood vessel inflammation
  • Swelling of the face, rash or itchy skin, red skin
  • Liver problems (hepatitis)
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, tongue, and/or throat, possibly causing breathing or swallowing difficulties (angioedema), including anaphylactic shock
  • Liver failure, yellowing of skin and/or eyes (jaundice)
  • Severe skin reactions

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to etoricoxib, other NSAIDs (like aspirin), or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have an active stomach ulcer or bleeding in your stomach or intestines.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart failure, had a heart attack, stroke, or problems with blood circulation (e.g., bypass surgery, narrowing of arteries in legs).
  • Do not take if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney disease.

  • Do not take if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Do not give this medicine to children or teenagers under 16 years of age.
  • Do not take if you have an inflammatory bowel disease (like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
  • Stop taking Arcoxia and contact your doctor immediately if you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, swelling of ankles, yellowing of skin/eyes, severe stomach pain, or an allergic reaction.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. May increase swelling, worsen renal and cardiac failure and cause cardiovascular events. Risk of gastrointestinal bleeding less than with traditional NSAIDs. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
