How to Use

Dosage

Day 1: one 125 mg capsule one hour before chemotherapy. Days 2 and 3: one 80 mg capsule once a day.

Method

Take the capsule whole with liquid, with or without food.

Important

The maximum dose is 125 mg per day (Day 1).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Constipation, indigestion
  • Headache
  • Tiredness
  • Loss of appetite
  • Hiccups
  • Increased liver enzymes in the blood
RARE
  • Dizziness, drowsiness
  • Acne, rash
  • Restlessness
  • Belching, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, dry mouth, flatulence
  • Increased pain or burning during urination
  • Feeling of weakness, general feeling of illness
  • Hot flashes and redness / facial and skin redness
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Fever with increased risk of infection, decreased red blood cells
  • Difficulty thinking, lack of energy, taste changes
  • Skin sensitivity to sunlight, excessive sweating, oily skin, skin sores, itchy rash, severe skin reactions (like Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Extreme feeling of well-being, confusion about time and place
  • Bacterial or fungal infections
  • Severe constipation, stomach ulcer, inflammation of intestines, mouth sores, bloated stomach
  • Frequent urination, increased urine output, sugar or blood in urine
  • Chest discomfort, swelling, changes in walking
  • Cough, mucus in throat, throat irritation, sneezing, sore throat
  • Watery and itchy eyes
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Muscle spasms, muscle weakness
  • Constant thirst
  • Slow heartbeat, heart and blood vessel disease
  • Decreased white blood cells, low blood sodium, weight loss

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you or your child are allergic to aprepitant or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take with medicines containing pimozide, terfenadine, astemizole, or cisapride, as this can cause serious problems. Tell your doctor if you are taking these medicines.
  • Tell your doctor about any liver problems, as your doctor may need to monitor your liver function.
  • Do not give Aprepitant Stada 80 mg and 125 mg capsules to children under 12 years old.
  • Aprepitant Stada may make hormonal contraceptives (like birth control pills, patches, or implants) less effective. Use an additional non-hormonal birth control method during treatment and for 2 months after.

  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as hives, rash, itching, or difficulty breathing/swallowing.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you or your child experience these symptoms.
  • Aprepitant Stada contains sucrose. If you or your child have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
