How to Use

Dosage

Day 1: one 125 mg capsule. Days 2 and 3: one 80 mg capsule per day.

Method

Take by mouth. Swallow the capsule whole with liquid, with or without food, 1 hour before chemotherapy on treatment days.

Important

Do not take more capsules than your doctor recommends.

Possible Side Effects

  • Constipation, indigestion

RARE
  • Dizziness, drowsiness
  • Acne, skin rash
  • Anxiety
  • Burping, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, dry mouth, gas
  • Increased pain or burning when urinating
  • Feeling weak, general feeling of being unwell
  • Hot flashes, redness of face and skin
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Fever with increased risk of infection, decreased red blood cells
  • Difficulty thinking, lack of energy, changes in taste
  • Skin sensitivity to sunlight, increased sweating, oily skin, skin sores, itchy rash, severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Extreme feeling of well-being (euphoria), disorientation
  • Bacterial infection, fungal infection
  • Severe constipation, stomach ulcer, inflammation of small and large intestine, mouth sores, bloated stomach
  • Frequent urination, increased urine output, sugar or blood in urine
  • Chest discomfort, swelling, changes in walking
  • Cough, mucus in throat, throat irritation, sneezing, sore throat
  • Watery and itchy eyes
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Muscle spasms, muscle weakness
  • Constant thirst
  • Slow heartbeat, cardiovascular disease
  • Decreased white blood cells, low sodium levels in blood, weight loss

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you or your child are allergic to aprepitant or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine with pimozide, terfenadine, astemizole, or cisapride.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your child have any liver problems, as your liver function may need to be monitored.
  • Aprepitant Stada 80 mg and 125 mg capsules should not be given to children under 12 years of age.
  • This medicine may make hormonal contraceptives (like birth control pills or patches) less effective. Use an alternative non-hormonal birth control method during treatment and for 2 months after.

  • If you or your child feel dizzy or drowsy, avoid driving, cycling, or using machines or tools.
  • Stop taking Aprepitant Stada and contact a doctor immediately if you or your child experience signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as hives, rash, itching, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
