How to Use

Dosage

Start with a lower dose and slowly increase it; the usual dose is 30 mg twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If you have severe kidney problems, your doctor may adjust your dose to 30 mg once a day in the morning.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth, swallowing them whole with water. You can take them with or without food, ideally around the same time each morning and evening.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 60 mg.

  • Hives (itchy skin rash)
  • Weight loss
  • Allergic reaction
  • Bleeding in the gut or stomach
  • Suicidal thoughts or behavior
  • Severe allergic reaction (swelling of face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, causing difficulty breathing or swallowing)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to apremilast or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. Use effective birth control during treatment and do not breastfeed.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you feel very sad, have mood changes, or think about harming yourself.
  • If you have serious kidney problems, your doctor might need to change your dose.
  • Talk to your doctor if you lose weight without trying.

  • Tell your doctor if you have severe diarrhea, feel very sick (nausea), or are throwing up (vomiting).
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, including those for tuberculosis (rifampicin), seizures or epilepsy (phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine), or mild anxiety/depression (St. John's wort), as they can affect how Apremilast Hexal works.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 17 years of age.
