How to Use

Dosage

The usual infusion dose is 1–4 mg of apomorphine hydrochloride per hour.

Method

Important

The total amount of apomorphine hydrochloride you receive each day should not be more than 100 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Painful, tender, red, and itchy lumps under the skin at the injection site. Change injection site each time to avoid these.
  • Seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not real (hallucinations).
  • Nausea or vomiting, especially when you first start treatment. Taking anti-sickness medicine (domperidone) at least 2 days before Apomorphine Stada can prevent this.
  • Feeling very tired or very sleepy.
  • Feeling confused or having hallucinations.
  • Yawning.
  • Feeling dizzy or faint when standing up.
RARE
  • Increased involuntary movements or shaking during 'on' periods (when movement is better).
  • Hemolytic anemia (when red blood cells break down too quickly). This is rare and may occur in patients also taking levodopa.
  • Suddenly falling asleep.
  • Skin rashes.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Sores at the injection site.
  • Decreased red blood cells, which can make your skin look pale and cause weakness or shortness of breath.
  • Decreased platelets, which increases the risk of bleeding and bruising.
  • Allergic reaction with symptoms like skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue.
  • Eosinophilia (an abnormally high number of white blood cells in your blood or tissues).
  • Swelling in your legs, feet, or fingers.
  • Impulse control disorders, such as a strong urge to gamble, overeat, shop excessively, or have an increased sex drive.
  • Fainting.
  • Aggression, anxiety, restlessness.
  • Headache.
