How to Use

Dosage

Apply a thin layer of Apolar to the affected skin area 1 to 3 times daily, as prescribed by your doctor.

Method

Use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Occlusive dressings (airtight bandages) should only be used if your doctor has prescribed them.

Important

Apply 1 to 3 times daily. Intermittent treatment in cycles of less than 10 days is recommended to avoid tolerance development and decreased effectiveness.

  • Hair follicle inflammation (folliculitis)

  • Pigment changes
  • Rash around the mouth (perioral dermatitis)
  • Allergic contact eczema
  • Softening of the skin (maceration)
  • Secondary infection
  • Thinning of the skin (skin atrophy)
  • Stretch marks (striae)
  • Heat rash (miliaria)
RARE
  • Blurred vision

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Apolar if you are allergic to desonide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Apolar should not be used on wounds, rashes around the mouth (perioral dermatitis), or rosacea.
  • Do not use it to treat skin infections caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses (e.g., Herpes simplex).
  • Avoid getting the cream in your eyes or on mucous membranes.
  • Use Apolar with caution on the face, armpits, groin, and skin folds.

  • Special care must be taken when using Apolar in children.
  • The treated skin area should not be covered with bandages unless prescribed by a doctor, as long-term treatment or treatment of large areas with occlusive dressings can cause the active substance to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other vision problems.
  • If the rash worsens during treatment, stop using the product and contact your doctor.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
  • Apolar emulsion cream contains methylparahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propylparahydroxybenzoate (E216), which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
