How to Use

Dosage

The usual daily dose is 3–30 mg, but your individual dose might be up to 100 mg per day.

Method

The medicine is injected under the skin as instructed by your doctor or nurse; typically 1-10 injections per day. Do not inject into a vein.

Important

A single injection should not exceed 10 mg, and the total daily dose should not be more than 100 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Painful and tender bumps, redness, and itching under the skin at the injection site.
  • Seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not real (hallucinations).
  • Feeling sick to your stomach (nausea) or throwing up (vomiting), especially when you first start treatment.
  • Feeling tired or very sleepy.
  • Feeling confused.
  • Yawning.
  • Feeling dizzy or like you might faint when standing up.
RARE
  • Increased involuntary movements or worsening tremors during "on" periods.
  • Abnormal breakdown of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia).
  • Sudden attacks of falling asleep.
  • Skin rashes.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Sores or wounds at the injection site.
  • Reduced red blood cells, which can cause pale skin, weakness, or shortness of breath.
  • Reduced blood platelets, increasing the risk of bleeding or bruising.
  • Eosinophilia (abnormally high number of a certain type of white blood cell in blood or tissues).
  • Swelling of the legs, feet, or fingers.
  • Uncontrolled urge to act on potentially harmful impulses (e.g., strong urge to gamble, increased sexual interest, compulsive shopping, or binge eating).
  • Fainting.
  • Aggression (hostility) or agitation.
  • Headache.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are under 18 years old.
  • Do not use if you have breathing difficulties.
  • Do not use if you have dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
  • Do not use if you have severe mental health problems, such as hallucinations or a loss of touch with reality.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems.

  • Do not use if you have severe uncontrolled movements (dyskinesia) or difficulty moving (dystonia), even if you are taking levodopa.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to apomorphine or any other ingredient in this medicine; stop use and seek immediate medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, breathing difficulties, or facial swelling.
  • Tell your doctor if you or a family member have "long QT syndrome" (a heart rhythm problem).
  • Do not use at the same time as ondansetron (a medicine for nausea and vomiting), as this can cause a severe drop in blood pressure and loss of consciousness.
  • Tell your doctor if you notice unusual behaviors or harmful urges, such as excessive gambling, eating, shopping, or an increased sexual desire.
  • Apogo PEN can cause severe drowsiness and sudden sleep attacks; do not drive or use machines if this happens.
  • Do not use if the medicine solution is green, cloudy, or contains particles.
