How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you your exact dose. Typically, it's one 5 mg tablet twice a day. For some people or treatments, it might be one 2.5 mg tablet twice a day, or two 5 mg tablets twice a day for the first 7 days of treating blood clots.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food. Try to take your tablets at the same time each day. If you have trouble swallowing, you can crush the tablet and mix it with water, apple juice, or applesauce, and take it right away.

Important

Do not take more than the dose your doctor prescribed. The highest usual dose is 20 mg per day (two 5 mg tablets twice daily) for the start of blood clot treatment.
