Antepsin contains sucralfate, which forms a protective layer on the stomach lining to help heal ulcers and irritated areas by shielding them from stomach acid.

How to Use

Dosage

1 tablet 3–4 times a day.

Method

Take the tablet about one hour before meals and at bedtime. Drink with a glass of water or other beverage. It should be taken on an empty stomach, about one hour before or one hour after meals.

Important

Maximum 4 tablets per day.

  • Formation of solid masses in the stomach or intestines (bezoars)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Antepsin if you are allergic to sucralfate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have reduced kidney function or are on dialysis.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have difficulty swallowing.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have slow bowel function.
  • Antepsin is not recommended for children and adolescents under 14 years old due to insufficient information.

  • Do not use Antepsin continuously for more than eight weeks, as it contains aluminum.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Avoid use already in mild renal impairment. May cause adverse neurological effects. Take the several interactions in the absorption phase into account. (updated 18.3.2024)
