How to Use

Dosage

For starting and ongoing treatment, take 1/2 to 1 tablet (100–200 mg) daily, or 2 to 4 tablets (400-800 mg) twice a week (e.g., Tuesdays and Fridays).

Method

Dissolve the tablet in half a glass of water (about 100 ml) just before taking it, stir, and drink immediately. The best time to take it is in the morning, but if it makes you tired, you can take it in the evening.

Important

Do not exceed 1 tablet (200 mg) daily, or 4 tablets (800 mg) on the two days a week when it is taken.

  • Jaundice (yellow skin/eyes)
RARE
  • Acne-like rash
  • Allergic reactions
  • Tremors
  • Nerve damage from long-term high doses (causing numbness and muscle weakness, especially in hands and feet)
  • Mental health changes, like personality changes
  • Sudden brain problems
  • Blurred vision or eye pain
  • Severe liver damage, which can be life-threatening
  • Sexual problems
  • Skin rash (frequency unknown)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to disulfiram or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have untreated heart failure.
  • Do not use if you have a severe mental disorder or psychosis.
  • Do not use if you have severe brain damage.
  • Do not use if you are in the first three months of pregnancy.

  • Do not use if you have recently consumed alcohol.
  • Do not give Antabus secretly to anyone.
  • Avoid foods, medicines, and products (like aftershave) that contain alcohol during treatment and for two weeks after stopping.
  • Contact a doctor immediately if you experience yellowing of the skin, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, fever, headache, or rash.
  • Discuss with your doctor before using Antabus if you have other illnesses, or reduced liver, kidney, or lung function, diabetes, or epilepsy.
