How to Use
Dosage
The usual starting dose is 5 mg three times a day.
Method
Swallow the tablets whole or halved with liquid. Do not chew or crush them. Take them at the same time each day, either on an empty stomach or with a meal.
Important
The maximum daily dose is 60 mg.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Vague chest pain
- •Nightmares, drowsiness, insomnia, dizziness, nervousness, lightheadedness, decreased concentration, restlessness, irritability, hostility, confusion, depression
- •Blurred vision
- •Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
- •Sore throat, nasal congestion
- •Nausea, dry mouth, digestive issues, diarrhea
- •Headache, weakness
RARE
- •Serotonin syndrome (fever, confusion, agitation, sweating, shaking, tremors, hallucinations, sudden muscle jerks or palpitations)
- •Allergic reaction (itching, difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, throat, tongue, or skin)
- •Short fainting spells, low or high blood pressure, fast heart rate/arrhythmia
- •Feeling strange or unreal, unusual sensitivity to certain sounds, excitement, unpleasant mood (sadness, irritation, restlessness), inability to sit or stand still, anxiety, lack of interest, thought disorders, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, seizures
- •Numbness, unusual sensations (e.g., tingling, prickling), coordination problems, tremor
- •Significantly increased breathing rate, shortness of breath, chest pressure, changes in sense of smell
- •Red eyes, itchy eyes, conjunctivitis (also under eyelids)
- •Increased appetite, loss of appetite, drooling, rectal bleeding, constipation, flatulence, irritable bowel syndrome, vomiting
- •Lower urinary tract symptoms
- •Swelling, hives, redness, easy bruising, hair loss, dry skin, rash, blisters, facial swelling
- •Muscle cramps, muscle pain, muscle tension, joint pain
- •Weight gain, fever, buzzing in head, weight loss, general discomfort, fatigue, altered taste, sweating, cold hands
- •Increased liver enzyme levels
- •Menstrual disorders, decreased or increased sexual desire
- •Cerebrovascular disorder, heart failure, palpitations, heart muscle dysfunction, slow resting heart rate
- •Changes in blood count (increased certain white blood cells [eosinophilia], decreased certain blood cells [leukopenia], decreased platelets [trombocytopenia])
- •Mood swings, claustrophobia, cold intolerance, drowsiness that can lead to reduced mobility or unconsciousness, slurred speech, psychosis, temporary memory loss
- •Extrapyramidal symptoms, including involuntary body movements during or after treatment, involuntary movements of the body, face, mouth, or tongue, stiffness in the body, Parkinson-like symptoms (e.g., slow movements and tremors), akathisia (restlessness, inability to sit still), restless legs syndrome (e.g., burning, itching, or tingling in leg muscles), slowed reaction time
- •Eye pain, light sensitivity, feeling of pressure in eyes, tunnel vision
- •Nosebleeds
- •Involuntary urination, need to urinate at night
- •Small skin bleeds, acne, thinning nails
- •Muscle weakness
- •Breast milk secretion, breast enlargement in men, thyroid dysfunction
- •Alcohol abuse, bleeding disorders, hoarseness, hiccups, burning sensation on tongue
- •Missed periods, pelvic inflammatory disease, ejaculation disorder, impotence
Important Warnings
- Do not take Anksilon if you are allergic to buspirone hydrochloride or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Do not take Anksilon if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, myasthenia gravis (severe muscle weakness), severe liver or kidney disease, or epilepsy.
- Do not take Anksilon if you have acute poisoning from alcohol, sleeping pills, painkillers, or antipsychotic medicines.
- Do not use Anksilon if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
- Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking Anksilon.
