How to Use

Dosage

Adults: 200 mg on the first day, then 100 mg daily. Children (1 month to under 18 years): 3.0 mg per kg (up to 200 mg) on the first day, then 1.5 mg per kg (up to 100 mg) daily.

Method

Given once a day as a slow drip into a vein (infusion).

Adults: Max 200 mg on the first day, then max 100 mg daily. Children: Max 200 mg on the first day, then max 100 mg daily (dose depends on weight).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low potassium in your blood.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Feeling sick (nausea).
  • Seizures.
  • Headache.
  • Vomiting.
  • Changes in liver test results.
  • Rash, itching.
  • Changes in kidney test results.
  • Abnormal flow of bile from the gallbladder.
  • High blood sugar.
  • High or low blood pressure.
  • Sudden tightening of airway muscles causing wheezing, coughing, or shortness of breath.
RARE
  • Problems with blood clotting.
  • Redness and warmth of the skin.
  • Hot flashes.
  • Stomach pain.
  • Hives (nettle rash).
  • Pain at the injection site.
  • Very serious, life-threatening allergic reaction.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to anidulafungin, other similar medicines (echinocandins), or any other ingredients.
  • Your doctor may check your liver more closely if you have liver problems during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you are having anesthesia while on this medicine.
  • Watch for signs of an allergic or infusion-related reaction like itching, rash, hives, redness, sneezing, wheezing, or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor right away.
  • This medicine should not be given to babies younger than 1 month old.
