How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling down or sad (depression)
  • Headache
  • Hot flashes (sudden feelings of warmth)
  • Feeling sick to your stomach (nausea)
  • Skin rash
  • Joint pain or stiffness
  • Arthritis (swelling and pain in joints)
  • Feeling weak
  • Bone loss (osteoporosis), making bones weaker
  • Loss of appetite
  • High cholesterol levels in the blood (shown in blood tests)
  • Feeling sleepy
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome (numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in your hand and arm)
  • Tingling, itching, or numbness of the skin; changes in taste
  • Diarrhea (loose stools)
  • Vomiting
  • Changes in liver function shown in blood tests
  • Thinning hair or hair loss
  • Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity), including swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
  • Bone pain
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Vaginal bleeding (mostly during the first few weeks; tell your doctor if it continues)
  • Muscle pain
RARE
  • Severe skin reaction with sores or blisters (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of the throat, causing difficulty swallowing or breathing (angioedema)
  • Changes in certain liver function blood tests (gamma-GT and bilirubin)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Hives (itchy red welts on the skin)
  • Trigger finger (a finger or thumb getting stuck in a bent position)
  • Increased calcium in the blood (if you feel sick, vomit, or are thirsty, tell your doctor)
  • Rare skin inflammation with red patches or blisters
  • Hypersensitivity rash (could be an allergic or anaphylactic reaction)
  • Inflammation of small blood vessels, causing red or purple skin discoloration (Henoch-Schönlein purpura)
  • Dry eyes
  • Lichenoid rash (small, red or purple itchy bumps on the skin)
  • Tendon inflammation (tendinitis) or tendon disorder (connective tissue connecting muscles to bones)
  • Tendon rupture (connective tissue connecting muscles to bones)
  • Memory problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to anastrozole or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you still have periods and have not gone through menopause.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking tamoxifen or medicines containing estrogen (like hormone replacement therapy).
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had a condition that affects your bone strength (osteoporosis).
