How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water, around the same time each day. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache

  • Rash
  • Joint pain or stiffness
  • Joint inflammation (arthritis)
  • Weakness or lack of energy
  • Bone thinning (osteoporosis)
  • Depression
  • Loss of appetite
  • High cholesterol levels (seen in blood tests)
  • Drowsiness (feeling sleepy)
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome (tingling, pain, coldness, or weakness in the hand)
  • Tingling, numbness, or altered taste in skin
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting (being sick)
  • Changes in liver blood test results
  • Hair thinning (hair loss)
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., swelling in face, lips, or tongue)
  • Bone pain
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Vaginal bleeding (usually in the first few weeks of treatment)
  • Muscle pain
RARE
  • Changes in certain liver blood tests (gamma-GT and bilirubin)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Hives or nettle rash (urticaria)
  • Trigger finger (a condition where a finger or thumb locks in a bent position)
  • Increased calcium levels in your blood
  • Rare skin inflammation with red patches or blisters
  • Rash caused by hypersensitivity (allergic reaction)
  • Inflammation of small blood vessels (Henoch-Schönlein purpura)
  • Very severe skin reaction with sores or blisters (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Allergic reactions with throat swelling, making it hard to swallow or breathe (angioedema)
  • Dry eyes
  • Lichenoid rash (small, red or purple itchy bumps on the skin)
  • Tendon inflammation (tendinitis)
  • Tendon rupture
  • Memory impairment (worsened memory)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to anastrozole or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Talk to your doctor if you still have periods and have not gone through menopause.
  • Do not take if you are already taking tamoxifen or estrogen-containing medicines (like hormone replacement therapy).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had bone problems or weak bones (osteoporosis) in the past.
