How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 1 mg, taken as one 0.5 mg capsule twice a day for at least one week. Your doctor may adjust the dose after that.

Method

Swallow capsules whole with water. Do not crush or dissolve them. You can take them with or without food, but try to take them at the same time each day.

Important

Do not take more capsules than your doctor has prescribed. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor.

  • Serious heart rate or rhythm problems (ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, or atrial fibrillation)
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas causing severe stomach and back pain)
  • Vomiting blood or bloody/black stools
  • Severe drop in blood cell count, causing weakness
  • Bleeding or infections due to very low blood cell counts (pancytopenia)
  • High blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension), with symptoms like shortness of breath, swollen legs/ankles, and bluish lips/skin.
  • Kidney failure (little or no urine production)
  • Heart attack
  • Bleeding gums
  • Weight gain
  • Severe chest pain (angina pectoris)
  • Heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathy), with symptoms like tiredness, chest pain, and palpitations
  • Enlarged heart

  • Painful spasms of heart blood vessels at rest (Prinzmetal's angina)
  • Loss of coordination

  • Colon inflammation (colitis), with symptoms like diarrhea with blood/mucus, stomach pain, and fever

  • Area of abnormal density in the lungs
  • Increased creatinine levels in blood, possibly a sign of kidney problems
  • Potentially life-threatening irregular heartbeat (Torsade de Pointes)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis) with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, itching, yellowing of skin/eyes, and changes in stool/urine color
  • Lung inflammation (pneumonitis) that can cause scarring, with symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath, and wheezing
  • Kidney inflammation (tubulointerstitial nephritis)
  • Stroke (see warning section)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Anagrelide STADA if you are allergic to anagrelide or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have moderate to severe liver or kidney problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart problems or a history of a heart condition called 'QT prolongation'.
  • Using this medicine with aspirin or other blood thinners can increase your risk of bleeding.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as it can increase your risk of stroke. Talk to your doctor first.

  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience signs of a stroke, such as sudden numbness or weakness, confusion, trouble speaking, vision problems, or severe headache.
  • Use with caution in children and adolescents, as there is limited information on its use in this age group.
  • Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Women who can get pregnant should use effective birth control.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy.
