How to Use

Dosage

Usually 1 mg per day, taken as one 0.5 mg capsule twice daily for at least one week; dosage may be adjusted by your doctor.

Method

Swallow capsules whole with a glass of water; do not crush or dissolve contents in liquid; can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Important

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor, as the dosage is individually determined.

RARE
  • Heart failure (symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain, swollen legs due to fluid retention)
  • Severe heart rhythm problems (ventricular or atrial fibrillation, tachycardia)
  • Pancreatitis (severe abdominal and back pain)
  • Vomiting blood or bloody/black stools
  • Severe reduction of blood cells (pancytopenia: weakness, bruising, bleeding, infections)
  • Pulmonary hypertension (shortness of breath, swelling of legs/ankles, bluish skin/lips)
  • Kidney failure (scant or no urine output)
  • Heart attack
  • Feeling weak or unwell
  • High blood pressure
  • Fainting
  • Chills or fever
  • Indigestion, loss of appetite, constipation
  • Bruising, bleeding
  • Swelling (edema)
  • Weight loss
  • Muscle pain, joint pain, back pain
  • Impaired or lost sensation (especially in the skin), tingling and prickling
  • Insomnia, depression, confusion, nervousness, dry mouth, memory loss
  • Shortness of breath, nosebleed
  • Severe lung infection (fever, shortness of breath, cough, phlegm)
  • Hair loss, itchy or discolored skin
  • Impotence, chest pain
  • Reduced platelets (thrombocytopenia: increased risk of bleeding/bruising)
  • Fluid accumulation around the lungs or increased liver enzyme levels
  • Gum bleeding
  • Weight gain
  • Severe chest pain (Prinzmetal's angina)
  • Heart muscle disease (fatigue, chest pain, palpitations)
  • Enlarged heart, fluid accumulation around the heart
  • Loss of coordination, speech difficulties, dry skin, migraine, vision disturbances or double vision, ringing in the ears
  • Dizziness upon standing
  • Frequent urination at night, pain, flu-like symptoms, drowsiness, widened blood vessels
  • Colon inflammation (diarrhea, blood/mucus in stools, abdominal pain, fever)
  • Gastritis (pain, nausea, vomiting)
  • Areas of abnormal density in the lungs
  • Elevated creatinine levels in blood tests (sign of kidney problems)
  • Potentially life-threatening, irregular heartbeat (torsade de pointes)
  • Liver inflammation (nausea, vomiting, itching, yellow skin/eyes, discolored stools/urine)
  • Lung inflammation (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, wheezing, scarring in the lungs)
  • Kidney inflammation
  • Stroke

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to anagrelid or any other ingredients in this medicine (an allergic reaction may appear as rash, itching, swelling of the face or lips, or shortness of breath).
  • Do not take if you have moderate or severe liver or kidney impairment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or suspect heart problems, have a history of prolonged QT interval in your family, or are taking medications that cause abnormal ECG changes.
  • Tell your doctor if your blood electrolyte levels (e.g., potassium, magnesium, calcium) are low.
  • There is an increased risk of severe bleeding if Anagrelid Avansor is taken with acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin).

  • Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly without your doctor's advice, as sudden discontinuation may increase the risk of stroke.
  • Anagrelid Avansor should not be taken by pregnant or breastfeeding women; women who can become pregnant must use effective contraception while taking this medicine.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience dizziness while taking this medicine.
