How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the dose based on your general health and other treatments. Typically, 90-150 mg/m² daily for 3-5 consecutive days.

Method

The medicine is given slowly as an intravenous infusion, meaning a drip into a vein, over at least 60 minutes.

Important

The maximum daily dose is generally 150 mg/m².

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low blood pressure
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Mouth inflammation
  • Red spots on skin (purpura)
  • Local vein inflammation at injection site
  • Increased liver enzymes
RARE
  • Decreased red and white blood cells (anemia and increased infection risk)
  • Allergic reactions, severe allergic reactions, swelling
  • Weight loss or gain
  • Severe fatigue (lethargy), confusion
  • Headache
  • Vision problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Amsalyo if you are allergic to amsacrine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • This medicine can lower your white blood cell and platelet counts, increasing the risk of infections and bleeding. Your doctor will monitor your blood levels.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Low potassium or magnesium levels in your blood must be corrected before treatment. Your heart rate will be monitored due to the risk of rhythm disturbances.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, unless directed by your doctor. Use effective contraception during and after treatment.

  • This medicine may cause dizziness, vision problems, or confusion. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these symptoms.
