How to Use

Dosage

This medicine is given to you as an injection or infusion (drip) into a vein by a healthcare professional.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Rash, itching
  • Loose stools
RARE
  • Decrease in red blood cells, which can cause pale skin, weakness, and shortness of breath (anemia)
  • Decrease in blood platelets (thrombocytopenia)
  • Decrease or increase in white blood cells (leukopenia, eosinophilia)
  • Inflammation of the tongue and mouth lining
  • Mouth inflammation, tongue inflammation, abdominal pain
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Colon inflammation
  • Diarrhea
  • Hives (urticaria)
  • Crystals in urine, suggesting kidney irritation (crystalluria)
  • Severe skin inflammation with peeling (exfoliative dermatitis)
  • Severe skin changes (e.g., erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell's syndrome)
  • Dizziness, headache, involuntary muscle twitching, and seizures
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis) and jaundice due to blocked bile flow; elevated liver enzymes
  • Kidney inflammation (acute interstitial nephritis)
  • Pain and swelling at the injection site
  • Fungal overgrowth in the mouth and abdomen

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Amroliv if you are allergic to ampicillin or other penicillins.
  • Tell your doctor if you are allergic to cephalosporins (another group of antibiotics) or have had allergies before.
  • If you experience a severe allergic reaction (e.g., rash, breathing difficulties, dizziness), stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor or emergency room immediately.
  • Contact your doctor if you get watery diarrhea with blood or mucus, stomach pain, and/or fever, as this could be a sign of colon inflammation.
  • If you have mononucleosis or chronic lymphocytic leukemia, you might develop a rash.

  • Tell your doctor if you have severe kidney problems, so your dose can be adjusted.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking blood thinners, as Amroliv can affect their effectiveness and increase the risk of bleeding.
  • If you are giving a urine sample for glucose measurement, tell your doctor or nurse that you are taking Amroliv, as it can affect test results.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
  • This medicine contains sodium (salt). Talk to your doctor if you are on a low-sodium diet.
  • If you are taking oral live typhoid vaccine, do not use Amroliv for three days after vaccination.
